PREMIO ECCELLENTI PITTORI - BRAZZALE. LA MOSTRA
ASIAGO (Vicenza)
Museo Le Carceri
3 August 2019 - 15 September 2019
curated by Camillo Langone
INAUGURATION Saturday 03/08: at 18.00 at the Garden of the Museo Le Carceri.
CONFERENCES Tuesday 13/08: 17.30 at the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Asiago:"ART OF THE PAST AGAINST THE ART OF THE PRESENT: WHAT IS THE BEST?" Speaker: Camillo Langone, curator of the exhibition and art critic.Speakers: Gasparro Giovanni and Verlato Nicola, excellent painters.
Next August 3rd will be inaugurated the first edition of the Excellent Painters-Brazzale Prize exhibition which, each year, goes to reward the most significant work of art produced in Italy during the year, now in its fifth edition. The works of the five prize winners will be exhibited, as well as those of other artists who have received particular satisfaction from the jury. During the time of the exhibition there will be meetings and conversations on the themes of living painting that will have as protagonists artists and art critics, as well as musical moments organized in collaboration with Asiagofestival.
The Excellent Painters Award (www. eccellenteentipittori.it), conceived by the journalist Camillo Langone, and supported by the Brazzale Group for the fifth consecutive year, stands today as a true "diary of Italian living painting". The requirements of the selected paintings are essentially two. They must be Italian and painted by living artists: "Excellent painters is the home of painting that is born and is an expression of true, living art, which aims to enhance the talent of Italian painting. In Italy we are in the presence of a great offer of excellent painting - explains Camillo Langone - something that had not been seen since the Sixties, but at the same time of a poor demand. For convenience, we prefer to focus on our artistic past. That's why our painters are often forced to work abroad to do this job. "
Among the Italian art awards, Excellent Painters-Brazzale is the only one dedicated exclusively to painting. The only one whose jury is not formed solely by experts, but by illustrious lovers of beauty. The only recognition focused on the need to give visibility to the best Italian painting produced in the last twelve months. Without age discrimination, style, curriculum, without requiring registration fees or availability of the works, and all this to have a more complete view of the best contemporary pictorial production.
Hence the need to show the best works produced in recent years and the choice of the Museo Le carceri di Asiago as the ideal setting. The plateau with its great historical heritage has always been oriented towards the contemporary and sensitive to art in its many forms.

The exhibition takes place between two centenarians, that of the birth of the great Taumaturgo, recently celebrated (1416-2016) and the next of his canonization (1519 - 2019) by Pope Leo X on May 1, 1519, at the conclusion of the audition of the numerous testimonies provided during the related trials, issued the Bull Excelsus Dominus. The exhibition's itinerary, divided into four illustrative sections of the report of this project, traces the most significant episodes of the long existence of the great Taumaturgo of Paola (Cosenza) through extremely valuable figurative testimonies, printed texts and engravings from important art galleries and ancient places of worship: not only the extraordinary miracles witnessed by the protagonists in the trials of hearing in view of canonization, but above all the pacifying mission entrusted to him by the Pope for the good of the Nations and the unity of Christian Europe in the face of the Muslim threat, and the desired renewal spiritual world of the Catholic world, promoted within the Church of Rome, without fractures with the hierarchy and in perfect respect and obedience to the pontifical authority that in him recognized "almost another fervent Francis imitator of our Redeemer".
The realization of the event has contributed to the availability of many museums, parishes and private collectors to borrow artifacts of extraordinary interest and artistic value, from figurative texts on canvas and table to sculptural testimonies, from objects of silverware to those in ceramics: a heritage which covers a chronological period from the sixteenth to the twentieth century, from the paintings of Luca Giordano, Josepe de Ribera, Mattia Preti, Lavinia Fontana and Pietro Novelli to the canvas of Giovanni Gasparro and which testifies as Quem Calabria felicitergenuit [...] Orbisterrarum, summocumhonore, veneratur.

GIOVANNI GASPARRO. THE POPES OF NAPOLEON
ROME, Napoleonic Museum
curated by Fabio Benedettucci
March 22nd - May 6th 2018 (extended until May 20, 2018)
inauguration and press conference March 22, 2018, 12:00
Giovanni Gasparro. The Popes of Napoleon is an exhibition focused on two paintings by the young artist from Puglia depicting the popes who reigned during the age of Napoleon: Pius VI Braschi and Pius VII Chiaramonti. The exhibition, hosted at the Napoleonic Museum from 22 March to 6 May 2018, is promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Cultural Growth - Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage. Museum services of Zètema Progetto Cultura.
Along with the two paintings will also be exposed some sketches, useful for understanding the creative process of the artist. In support of the exhibition, the Napoleonic Museum will present a selected nucleus of graphic works generally preserved in the depots, through which will be illustrated aspects and different moments of the pontificates of Pius VI and Pius VII, both characterized by long periods of exile.
In an ideal dialogue with the paintings of Giovanni Gasparro, watercolors, drawings and engravings will be exhibited, made by numerous significant artists who lived between the end of the eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth century. Among them, the goldsmith Paolo Spagna, author of a drawing depicting the coat of arms of pope Braschi, Giuseppe Valadier, which will present the project for a triumphal arch, and Jean-Baptiste Wicar, represented in the exhibition by a refined preparatory drawing for a great painting today in the papal residence of Castel Gandolfo.
A young but already well-known painter, Giovanni Gasparro was born in Bari in 1983. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His work has received important awards: in 2014, with Quum memoranda - a portrait of Pope Pius VII (on display), Giovanni Gasparro won the Pio Alferano Award and the Brazzale Award. In the Basilica of San Giuseppe Artigiano in L'Aquila he painted 19 paintings, commissioned in 2011 following the earthquake, which represent the largest series of religious paintings performed in Italy in recent decades.

Ritorno ad Imola. Alessandro VII, Pio VII e Pio IX nelle opere di Giovanni Gasparro
IMOLA
Museo e Pinacoteca Diocesani
3 dicembre 2017 | 28 gennaio 2018
Exhibition extended until 5 February, concurrently with ARTEFIERA in Bologna
A seguire apertura e visita guidata della mostra insieme all’artista.
